Frequently
Asked Questions
This
section is designed to help you find answers to the most commonly
asked questions concerning our delicious cookie dough.
Do you have a suggestion for a question to add to our FAQ?
Please email it to Click Here to Email Us.
Do
you have nutrition facts and/or ingredients for review
online? Our nutrition facts and ingredients are available
online here at our website.
A
question that many people have is... "Is the cookie
dough safe to eat raw before it is cooked"?
Our fresh cookie dough is made with pasteurized eggs.
However, our dough has other raw ingredients and is made
with the intended use of the consumer baking it. You should
not eat our dough raw, just as you should not eat
a raw cookie dough made from scratch at home. Savory Sweets
insists on baking the dough into cookies to eliminate
any chance of bacteria.
Concerning
food allergies: Does Homestyle Ready-to-Bake Cookies contain
nuts? Some flavors do contain nuts. Our facility uses
nuts in manufacturing of several of our recipes. If you
have a severe allergy to nuts, please be advised that any
of our products may contain peanut residue, or other forms
of residue from nut products. Our nutrition facts and
ingredients are available online here
at our website.
How
long may I keep cookie dough in the refrigerator? How
long can I freeze it? "You can refrigerate our cookie dough if you
plan to use by the date printed on the Cookie Cube,
or freeze cookie dough up to 6 months.
Is
the Savory Sweets Homestyle Ready-To-Bake Cookie dough
product Kosher?
Yes, Savory Sweets Homestyle Ready-To-Bake Cookies are
Certified Kosher by
Organized Kashruth Labs. This means our delicious flavors
can be enjoyed by everyone, while respecting a tradition
that goes back thousands of years. This is important in
today's society and it could be even more important to
your friends and loved ones.
If
you defrost your cookie dough in the refrigerator
and do not need the whole Cookie Cube, can it
be put back into the freezer? Sometimes we only need
a batch or two and do not want to use the whole Cookie
Cube. Is this okay?
Our
suggestion is to portion the dough when received if you
plan on using a little bit at a time. This prevents having
to freeze and thaw and re-freeze. The dough will be okay,
but each time you repeat this process the dough has the
potential to lose a little flavor and may not bake up
as high.
We use only pasteurized eggs and the freshest natural
ingredients in all our recipes. Our suggested frozen shelf
life is six months for awesome tasting cookies! The
dough is safe beyond the six months, however, it may
not taste as fresh as it would have if baked and eaten
within the dates of our freshness guarantee.
If
your cookie dough was accidentally left out of refrigeration
for 2 days, is it still safe to eat? It has since been
frozen.
As with any product requiring refrigeration, if you allow
the product to reach temperatures above 45 degrees for
any length of time, you are inviting potential bacteria.
(You mention leaving the dough out of refrigeration for
48 hours). The ingredients begin to separate and don't
bake up like they normally would. Our recommendation would
be to discard the dough. You can contact the person/organization
you purchased the dough from to buy more!
Can
I buy your cookie dough without going through a fund-raiser?
Sorry, part of what makes our cookie dough so
unique is the fact that it is available only through a
fund-raiser. But here's an idea, why not suggest our cookie
dough to a non-profit organization in your area...like
a church, school, little league, etc. They'll raise the
funds they need for their activities, and you can start
them off right by being their first customer!
Where
in the United States do you offer your fund-raising
products? We
currently service the states of IL, IN, MI, PA, KY, WI and OH..
I
live in Colorado. I am involved in a mothers organization that
does
fundraisers. Your product sounds like something we could sell.
I noticed
you don't currently service Colorado, will you in the future?
My sister
lives in Illinois and has purchased your products and has told
me how good
they are.
Thanks
for your inquiry! We currently service the states of Illinois,
Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and portions of Wisconsin, Kentucky and Pennsylvania.
We would love to head west, however we don't have a scheduled
expansion plan beyond 2004! In the mean time, please visit
your sister in Illinois at least once every few months to
get your fill of our fresh cookie dough.
(Have her call us to make sure she has some on hand!!!) We
also have a mail order catalog at www.pennstreet.com
that sells our finished/baked gourmet products, like cookies,
chocolates, popcorn and brownies and incorporates them into
gift baskets for all occasions. Take a look
My
son was invited to be a Student Ambassador with the People
to People program. It costs about $4000 to participate!! They
will be sending us a fundraising-ideas kit but I've heard
so many people rave about your cookie dough that I wanted
to look into your company as an idea. Do you allow individuals
(like my 10 year old) or only organizations as a group to
sell your cookie dough?
Yes, the
answer is yes! We have already had People To People Ambassador
program individuals sell. The group name we'd list "People
To People Ambassador" c/o Your Son's Name. Please send
us your full name, address, city, state, zip and phone and
we'd be happy to have our fundraising consultants in your
area get you the information needed to line up a sale!
How
many Cookie
Cubes
do we have to order? Is there a limit? Can we order less
than the limit?
Yes we do have minimums. Anything under our minimum would
have to be set up with your sales consultant on an individual
basis. Please call 1-800-878-2583 to find the salesperson
near you.
How
many cookies on average does one 3 lb. Cookie
Cubeproduce?
Each Cookie Cube makes about 48 one ounce cookies.
Should
the sales force collect the money for the cookie dough in
advance?
It makes it a whole lot easier for the coordinator to have
the money in advance so they don't have to try to collect
AFTER the person already received the product. It also finalizes
the sale for you by having the money on the turn-in date.
After that, all you do is wait for the dough to arrive,
and for sure they will come to pick-up dough they have ALREADY
paid for!
